Participants will learn to teach various curricular subjects with an integrated approach. They will engage in planning of outdoor sessions identifying curricular links in line with DoE planning requirements. They will learn how to assess outdoor learning in accordance with AfL and AoL strategies. They will explore wellbeing techniques outdoors and engage with varied methodologies and collaborative teaching and learning. They will reflect on current practice and emphasis will be placed on how outdoor learning can become a whole school focus for school self-evaluation practice. Participants will engage with observation as an assessment tool and how this can inform planning to ensure pupils are provided with appropriate learning experiences differentiated to individual needs. Teachers will engage with woodland management and how a school can develop their own natural site on a budget. They will develop strategies for continuous qualitative assessment in the outdoors and will hone their reflective teaching practice. They will experience the benefits of peer collaboration and analysis and will familiarise themselves with organic, sustainable food growing practices for a school environment.
