This webinar will provide an insightful session on teaching Geopolitics in the new Leaving Certificate Geography specification. The main focus of the webinar will be practical approaches to planning for and teaching Learning Outcomes 3.12, 3.13 and 3.14 of Strand 3 – The Global Environment.
- 3.12 Explore the concept and relevance of geopolitics
- 3.13 Outline the influence of superpowers in geopolitics
- 3.14 Investigate a Geopolitical territorial dispute.
The webinar will provide:
- Clear overview of the spec
- Guidance on learning outcomes
- Practical methodologies
- Effective classroom and assessment strategies
- Demonstrate how skills from the unifying strand are incorporated into lessons involving Learning Outcomes 3.12 to 3.14
Tutor Bio: Liam has been teaching Geography for over 25 years. He teaches geography in Coláiste Iognáid, Galway – a Jesuit-run city school known locally as “The Jes”. He is also an experienced Leaving Cert higher level geography examiner and co-author of Core, the new Leaving Cert Geography book for the new specification published by Gill. Originally from County Mayo, he lives in Athenry, Co. Galway.
