A practical course to look at how we can make Student Support Plans as practical and user friendly as possible with targets that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed.
We will examine why the targets need to be specific and what sort of background work we put in to gather the information in order to make them more specific.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be enabled to:
- Understand the purpose and structure of Student Support Plans within the Continuum of Support framework.
- Define what makes a target SMART and explain why this approach supports effective planning and intervention.
- Identify the background information needed to inform SMART target setting, including formal and informal assessment, teacher observation, and pupil voice
- Develop clear, relevant SMART targets in priority areas such as literacy, numeracy, social/emotional skills, or behaviour.
- Link SMART targets to interventions, strategies, and supports that are appropriate to the pupil’s needs and context.
