Refresher Painting Workshop for Post-Primary Teachers of Art

Focus of the workshop:
- Choosing paint and why it matters - oil / acrylic / watercolour
- Colour palette and mixing - how to avoid some common mistakes
- Drawing up a floral still life and painting it
- Review and advice for going forward
This 3 hour refresher workshop will encourage art teachers to explore or re- engage with their own painting practice. The workshop will focus on acrylic paints but participants are welcome to bring watercolours or oil paints should they wish for guidance in these mediums.
The aim is for teachers to paint a joyful autumnal composition of flowers and fruit over the 3 hour workshop and to continue to explore their own painting process long beyond the workshop.
What to bring:
(1) Participants should bring their preferred paint, brushes, support ( ie canvas/ board / primed paper) palette
(2) Some seasonal foliage for arrangement
(3) Vase / jar
* If participants wish to bring oil paints please use odourless thinners (eg zest or sansodor)
