Mayo Education Centre has a long-standing relationship with the University of Lincoln, UK, through which many teachers in Ireland have studied for a part-time professional doctorate. Each year Irish teachers attend two days of study at Lincoln and academics from Lincoln visit Mayo Education Centre each July to hold workshops and seminars.
Mayo Education Centre, in collaboration with Dr Joss Winn who oversees doctoral study in the School of Education at Lincoln, will be holding a webinar for anyone interested in learning more about doctoral study: what it entails, the amount of work required, what distinguishes a PhD from an MA, and will include how doctoral study at Lincoln can be undertaken from Ireland. He will be joined also by some Irish alumni who will offer their perspectives. A follow-up workshop will be offered for those people who want to discuss this further and write a research proposal to accompany an application to Lincoln or indeed any other university.
This online meeting is relevant to any teacher interested in studying for a Doctorate in Education, regardless of what University they intend to attend.
